Imagination Series

Art is FUN! But it can also be an incredible teaching tool. The Imagination Series is a family-friendly series that mixes traditional storytelling stage shows with STEM-related learning opportunities. Professional troupes bring their fun, interactive shows to the John H. Williams stage to provide laughter, learning and more. We’ve had everything from pirates to hip hop, and each show even has its own study guide to learn more before and after the show! These one-hour shows open new doors for children by introducing the performing arts to new generations. Daytime performances are perfect for schools groups while evening performances are designed with family and friends in mind.

SUGAR SKULL! A Día de Muertos Musical Adventure is a touring bilingual/bicultural musical for young audiences and families that uses traditional regional music and dance from Mexico to tell the story of twelve-year-old Vita Flores. Vita thinks her family has gone loco planning a celebration for deceased loved ones. Why throw a party for the dead? But when a spirited candy skeleton suddenly springs to life, Vita finds herself on a magical, musical journey to unravel the true meaning of Día de Muertos. 

Meet Sugar Skull, a charismatic skeleton with a secret or two. With her skeletal new friend, Vita dances with ancient ancestors, sings with a sorrowful sorceress, escapes the trickster Chaneques, and even meets the famous Catrina Calavera. But can this clever youth gather the missing pieces needed for her family ofrenda before it’s too late?

Channeling our Ancestors

Channeling Our Ancestors is an original production from the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, created by Indigenous Oklahoman artists that explores themes of identity, appropriation, the connection of generations, and bringing heritage and traditions forward into modern life. Through a series of comedic sketches based on popular TV show tropes, audiences will be entertained and educated on what it means to be an Indigenous person in today’s society. This production will be performed for Tulsa Public Schools 7th graders, as well as one public performance.  

Recommended for 7th grade.  


Wind in the Willows

Journey into the Wild Wood on this multi-media adventure based on Kenneth Grahame's beloved children's novel. Wind in the Willows mixes classic storytelling with projected illustrations to tell the trials of Mole and Rat on an all-night race against time as they venture through the hidden wonders of the forest to find the young Otter before it's too late.

From the team who brought us Call of the Wild: Illustrated Edition , the production uses 180-degree projection that surrounds the performer and provides scenic elements throughout the show, while underscoring music and soundscapes set the mood. Experience the magic and mystery as award winning actor Noel Gaulin plays all the fabled characters in this new adaptation of this classic story.

Best for grades 3 and up.


Aesop’s Greatest Hits

Join us for a romp through Aeasop’s most beloved tales, produced specifically with kindergarteners in mind. Color, creativity, joy and laughs come together for this amazing show, with a few lessons learned along the way.  

Recommended for kindergartners.
